Long Time, No Write

Wow, this is the longest that we have been apart since you began on this road with me. My apologies.

What can I say? That is the life of a doctoral student! Sometimes you do not see or hear from them for a while. It's like I told my hubby when I started in this program, "hon, you will not see me for the next 3 years :)". With that being said, I have to catch you up on so much. Even Resurrection Day has passed, so I am resurrecting this blog.

Although it has been a while, the road has continued. I have celebrated holidays, birthdays, new business ventures, baby showers, house warmings, weddings, relocations, promotions, reunions, and so forth. I even began (officially) my fashion consulting/personal styling where I work with boutique owners on their events. It is very exciting... and is in addition to my other life as a PhD student and psychology professor.

Oh yes, I should tell you that I have made some great strides with my dissertation. My proposal has been completed for a while now (intro, literature review, and methodology) and I revised my survey. I am applying to the IRB (Institutional Review Board) to show them that I will conduct ethical research with human participants. I have been adding in the suggestions made my Dissertation Committee members. I must say that they are helpful for my study (and personality)...and if you are wondering, yes, they give TONS of feedback/comments. This works for me because I prefer that guidance and they have interest in my study.

I didn't get to tell you that I have moved up my completion date, so I will be earning my PhD this year, as opposed to next year!!! With that however, means that there is much work and research to do and quickly. You won't believe it, but I added a 3rd course to my school schedule this term since I am accelerating the program. I also changed the design of my study from qualitative to quantitative, which came with its own set of adventures. Nevertheless, I am doing well with my responsibilities, although I could use a pillow. So let's count them out: work (teaching 6 classes this term, 5 in I/O Psychology & 1 in MAP-Masters of Psychology--this is my first time teaching in MAP and I like the course on Emotional Intelligence & Leadership), school (3 courses), dissertation research, planning for my next field placement in South Africa, my personal styling, and a new blog I just begun (my hubby set that one up as well). At the end of this road, I will host a HUGE celebration party in August and would love to have you join me. After all, you have been on this road with me.

I have more to share, so be sure to check back soon!!
Love, Love
